Supplies:

  • Plaster of Paris
  • Soap mold or any type of mold to hold plaster
  • Powdered tempera paint in red & blue
  • Glitter

    Instructions:
    1. Mix 2 cups of plaster of Paris with 1 cup water in a bowl.
    2. If you want color add ¼ cup of the red or blue tempera paint.
    3. If you want glitter add as much as you want.
    4. Mix everything very well, scraping the sides of the bowl to get everything mixed.
    5. Pour into the molds immediately and let cure until hardened.
    6. Once it has hardened (usually about 30 minutes), take the plaster out of the mold and let cure for 2 or 3 more hours.
    7. Once the chalk has thoroughly dried (usually for about 24 hours) you can store in a Ziploc bag or a plastic bucket.

    Supplies:

  • Assorted cookie cutters (I used the Wilton Comfort-Grip Cutters because they are heavy duty and I can bend the wire around them and the cookie cutters don’t bend)
  • Wooden dowels- 7/16” x 12”
  • Craft wire – 18 gauge
  • Red Paint
  • Blue Paint
  • White Paint
  • Patriotic stickers
  • Modge Podge

    Instructions:
    1. You can cut the wooden dowels in half or leave them as they are in 12” lengths.
    2. If you have cut them in half sand the rough edges of the dowels.
    3. Drill a hole in the top of the dowels. I used a 1/8” drill bit.
    4. Paint your dowels in the color of your choice and set aside to dry.
    5. Cut a 24” piece of wire.
    6. Choose the cookie cutter you want and carefully bend around the cookie cutter and on the bottom twist the pieces of wire together. Trim the ends leaving about 2 inches of wire on the bottom.
    7. Take the wire shape in insert it into the hole to see if it fits snugly. If it doesn’t you may need to drill the hole a little bit deeper.
    8. Put some hot glue in the hole and then push the wire shape into the hole and let it dry there.
    9. Decorate the sticks with stickers or paint if you want.
    10. Cover the entire stick with a layer of Modge Podge to help the stickers stay on the stick.
    11. After everything has dried, dip the sticks into bubble solution and have fun.
