WASHINGTON D.C. (ABC 4 News) - The historic health care bill has passed the House of Representatives Sunday night.

After nearly a year of debate, the vote passed 219 to 210 around 8:45 p.m.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a speech just before the vote "make history for our country and progress for the American people."

Earlier Sunday, President Obama and other democratic leaders made the deal with democrats against the abortion end of the bill to secure the 216 needed votes for the majority in the House of Representatives.

The bill is expected to make senior citizens eligible for rebates to help reduce prescriptions. In six months, no insurance company can drop you if you get sick.  No insurance company can limit the amount of coverage you get. Your children can stay on your insurance until they're 26 years old. Also, no insurance company can refuse to insure your child because of a pre-existing condition.  In four years, adults won't have to worry about pre-existing conditions either.  Finally, all uninsured americans will have to have coverage or face a fine.

The bill now awaits President Obama's signature.
