MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) Police arrested a hatchet wielding man who allegedly stole a car, broke into a home and
harassed two others.

The man identified as Ammon Woodhead, 27, arrived in the Murray neighborhood near 6600 S. 1200 E. early Tuesday morning. He came in a stolen car from Salt Lake City. Officers don't know why Woodhead chose this particular neighborhood to run amok in.

Woodhead allegedly first broke into a house and assaulted two adult males, one in the bed where he was still sleeping. Police say he hit the resident in the ankles, and the other on the head with the hatchet. Both men were uninjured.

After leaving the home, Woodhead allegedly went to another nearby house, banging on the door then hitting it with the hatchet. He left and went to a third home where he broke the garage windows and climbed on top of the roof. "He was pounding with his hatchet to get my swamp cooler off to get inside my house," said one victim who wishes to remain unidentified.

Police arrived and tried coaxing the man down. They unsuccessfully tried tasering the man after he threw his hatchet at them, which missed officers. Police eventually got on the roof with a K-9 unit.  That's when the man surrendered.

Investigators are unclear why the man behaved this way, but suspect he was under the influence of drugs. Woodhead faces numerous felony charges included aggravated assault and burglary.

I wish that the facts were straight in this case. I have seen several reports and each one has something different. This alleged man has a family and it is very terrible to find out things this way. He has a good heart. The car was allowed to be used and was a loan from a friend. Thank you for not killing him as his son would have been devastated. By the way how does someone supposedly get attacked by an ax and get no injuries? Something is up with that bs.
