SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - During an economic slump in Utah, the fortune 500 company annouced Thursday they will move to the 222 Main Street Building and expand to employ 500 new workers by the end of the year.
Goldman Sachs is a company known for it's presence on Wall Street, but after the plans to move and expand are complete, the Salt Lake location will be the second largest branch in the entire company, employing 1,200.
"It means jobs for Utah," said Jason Mathis of the Downtown Alliance. "Utah really is a great place for companies like Goldman Sachs. We have affordable health care, low energy costs. It's a great state to hire young, enthusiastic workers who want to go out there and do a good job."
This came as great news for our state, which has just hit a 26-year high unemployment rate opf 7.1%. But experts said they feel the local economy is showing signs of a rebound. "We believe we've actually hit the bottom in this downturn. We've lost jobs, but on the other side, we're starting to see jobs being created. So we're staring to get that counter-balance."
Goldman Sachs authorities said they plan to hire all kinds of different positions with all different experience levels. For more information for job applications,
