Funeral plans for girl killed by blind rod

PLEASANT VIEW, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Nichole Clark's family is planning her funeral becuse of her death at Mckay Dee Hospial.  

The 11-year-old girl was using a blind rod to motivate her dog to move across the family yard.  She fell onto the rod climbing up steps to her home.  

It punctured her body below her left collarbone and hit a main artery.  It severely bled when she pulled the rod out.

The loss of blood caused brain damage and resulted in her ultimate death.

Nichole Clark died peacefully at Mckay Dee Hospital when family decided to unplug the machines that kept her alive.

News of her death spread quickly at Pioneer Elementary where she attended school.  An ABC 4 crew walked in to find pricipal Lori Rassmussen comforting a crying child.  Many other children were gathered in the pricipals office for support.  Other parents were pulling their mourning children from school.

Family friends are also visibly shaken by Clark's untimely death.  "She's a beautiful loving soul.  She inspires everybody," said Chris Wells.

Clark's family is planning her burial this Saturday at Hyde Park Cemetery.  Nichole's body will rest next to her great grandmother's body.
