Members of Salt Lake City and surrounding communities are invited to get a check-up on their marriage, compliments of Argosy University, Salt Lake City.
The Marriage Check-Up is a service being offered at no charge throughout the month of February to any couple that wishes to learn more about the health and quality of their marriage through a professional evaluation being given through the newly created counseling clinic at Argosy University, Salt Lake City.
The Marriage Check-Up is being offered by Argosy University, Salt Lake City’s newly-established counseling clinic. Through the clinic, students in the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy programs at Argosy University, Salt Lake City provide professional counseling services for families, couples and individuals.
Couples who participate will spend two to three hours total in the evaluation, which consists of an observation and a feedback session. During the observation, couples share information about how they met and how they communicate or problem-solve. During the feedback session, couples discuss their strengths, and look at any areas of improvement.
“The marital checkup is not therapy. It is an opportunity for people to learn more about the strengths in their relationship,” says Dr. Ben Erwin, Clinic Director. “There is no obligation to use the information beyond the session but research has shown that couples who participate in the marriage check-up significantly improve their relationship.”
