SANDY, UT(ABC4 News)- A Sandy lunch lady, Jamie Greenwood, is expected to becharged this week by authorities for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a high school student. Investigators tell ABC4 that the 41-year-old mother of two was having an affair with her son’s 16 year-old friend.
However, people in the community on Wednesday were in shock not only because their lunch lady landed behind bars but because the alleged offender is a woman.
But therapist Leslee Miller of the Sugarhouse Counseling Centersays it’s more common than people realize. “I think our general perception of women is that they are nurtures, caretakers, and protect and it shocks the senses when you think of them hurting children, “ Miller told ABC4. Thetherapist went on further to say that, “it’s not as rare as we may think.” According to one study published in American Journal of Preventative Medicine 23% of all sexual offenders are women. Miller says the problem with understanding women sex offenders is that their issues are not as widely studied in the medical field as men.
As for Greenwood, her family declined to comment but did say that she is a good person who has been under a lot of stress and trauma lately. The 41-year old has not returned to her job at Eastmont Middle School since her arrest on Monday
