OGDEN Utah (ABC 4 News) - Aaron Collier was mad over the recent presidential election.

And Saturday night when friends were over, his girlfriend says Collier was willing to fight anyone who disagreed with him.

"He wanted to fight my friends, he wanted to break my phone, he wanted something to break," says Stacee Chivers, his girlfriend.

She called 911 because she felt he was getting out of control.

"He told me I'd regret this," she says.

And when police arrived Shivers sat in the dining room talking to two police officers.

They then headed downstairs to meet with Collier.

"And right when they turned the corner, it was like popcorn. just boom, boom, boom."

She says police shot back. A friend took her outside and moments later police had her in handcuffs.

"The cop come up from behind meand just stepped on my back and slammed my head into the gravel," Chivers says. "He told me to shut up. he handcuffed me."

She was stunned by their treatment. She tried talking to the officer.

"I just wanted to know what I did wrong because I called you, I called you for help," she says.

A swat team surrounded her home and Chivers remained locked up in a police car.

She later learned Collier called her sister.

"He told her he had been shot twice, shot twice," Chivers says.
Collier even got on facebook according to Chivers and notified friends about his situation.

"He wrote that he had been shot in the stomack and kneecap," Chivers says.

But police allegedly told her a different story.

"They said he was walking around calling them the F word, but I know that's not true because he never moved after that, he never moved," Chivers says.

And while Collier was held up inside the house, Chivers claims she pleaded with police.

"(I asked them) can I please just let my mom call him," she says.
But they wouldn't let her.

She was taken to the police station where she later learned Collier died inside the home.

"I'm angry," she says. "I feel like I'm going to die, he was the life of my life ."

Ogden police are not commenting about the shooting and they have not released details on how Collier died.

They are still waiting for results of the autopsy which will determine the cause of death.

Are you a police officer, Someone? Luckily, I was not present for this incident. I had been with my friends earlier that evening. I don't believe I painted Aaron as a saint. I don't believe I said much about him. I am talking about the treatment of my friend and the owner of the home. I have already responded here, but can't seem to find my comment. Strange. Anyway, I did hear about Aaron having a prior gang history. Nobody at the incident denies that the police should have drawn their weapons. That has nothing at all to do with vandalizing a home and smearing an innocent woman's face in the gravel, and I know the rest of the abuse too. Too much to type here. The point is that OPD has some serious problems. Women should not be afraid to call the police for help. And let's face it, if you are an officer, then you know full well that the article and the police report is FULL of LIES! I guess people have to feel sensitive to a police department that can somehow manage to get 6 officers shot by one man that doesn't even have an automatic weapon. Really, when I heard the sad news in San Diego, I thought OMG, he must have had a machine gun! So what, did you decide to pay back by destroying my friends house? WOMEN ARE AFRAID OF YOU! I am in no way anti-police. I am a NAVY veteran and worked in communications for the SEALS. My husband is a NAVY pilot. We know a thing or two about gun fire. The OPD was reckless and irresponsible. Not to mention abusive and RUDE. I don't have any history with Aaron, and no one blames the police for defending themselves. You just don't get to LIE about what happened and take credit for saving people that got themselves out of the house. I love how you made it look like my friend was being abused by Aaron as well. Clearly he was mentally unstable, but I question the mental stability of a police force that plays target practice on a citizen's home. I hope you get what you deserve for that. I really do.

You have a known gang member( yes good ol' Aaron was in a gang)with a gun shooting at the police and they are just suppose to put their hands up and say we just want to talk? Gang member + gun = Problem. Stop pointing the finger at the police and start looking at the reason you called them. If he had a gun and went to get it then he was looking to shoot someone. Just be happy the police were there otherwise you and your friends could have been the ones dead. The sad part is he lay dying and the people texting and talking to him on the phone couldnt tell the police he was hurt and needed help. Sad story but do not paint Aaron as a saint.

Miranda. This is really pretty simple. 1) The man was making a fuss. He was acting irrational. 2) The man brandished a fire-arm. The second that an irrational person produces a weapon, all bets are off. It doesn't matter who you know. He was yelling and screaming about the world exploding and he had a weapon. The police responded according to procedure.

Hellooo! Did anyone read the first two paragraphs?!? Perhaps the police should have offered him a teddy bear to calm him down instead. If you act insane, you get treated as a potential worst situation- which is what occurred. Kudos to OPD for controlling the situation. They have the right to shoot to kill anyone who shoots at them, especially uncontrollable people in our community. Thank you OPD for putting your lives on the line to keep our community safe!!!

I agree that things were going to end badly, KDC. However, the police did not get her out of the house. She got herself out along with a friend. Smearing her face in the gravel had nothing to do with anything other than police brutality. Obviously, no police officer likes being shot at. Actually, there is no evidence that who fired the first shots at all. Either way, I know too many women that are afraid to call the Ogden city police. I don't blame them. I pray for my friend that the truth of this story comes out. I have respect for police officers that do their job. I do not respect police officers that abuse their authority and are abusive and reckless. I hope that the ridiculous vandalism of her home raises enough suspicion for any decent citizen to see that this was uncalled for.

Welcome to Utah. This seems to happen a lot here no matter what city/town you are in. They either use too much force or don't do anything at all. I wish the police departments would stop hiring people that think they are better than everyone else. It seems like the police now just want to have power over other people so they can get a high from it. I hate the police now and will not assist them in any way possible. They make life a lot harder here. My family has had a few run ins with different police departments. They are pretty much all the same. They have huge egos and like to push people around instead of help them, or they just don't care to help them because "it's not worth their time". I the population would start voting mayors out of office if they don't crack down on this type of treatment. The police need to shape up or ship out.

I would bet that the police don't really like to be shot at. As soon as gun shots ring out, police are going to clear the area of peolple who do not need to be there, and sometimes by force. Does not sound like that night was not going to end well regardless of police involvement.

Are you kidding me. What kind of journalist wrote this? I am a personal friend of Ms. Chivers. I know what happened and I believe this story deserves further investigation. I wanted to post the video from the news on my FB account, and all I can find is this joke of an article written by someone that can't even spell basic words. I am here visiting from out of state and I just happened to be here for this atrocity. The OPD used undue force against my friend. The police report is purposely vague to look like a lovers spat, which it was not. The police smashed my friends face into the gravel when she was nothing less than cooperative and called for help. I am disgusted by her treatment. In San Diego, the victim would have at least been treated with a little more respect from the public. Her story deserves more attention than assigning a journalist who can't spell or write. What is wrong in this state? My friend not only deserves a formal public apology from the police department, but she deserves a public that cares enough to make sure this investigation does not get botched by the "good old boys club". I have personally spoken to several eye witnesses and this story is not over. The Ogden City Police have a nasty habit of treating people like they don't deserve the "services" they provide. While I acknowledge the event was an all around a bad situation, the police did nothing but arrive, murder, and leave someone to die while they treated my dear friend like a piece of trash. This state has some serious problems and should be ashamed of their press and police departments.
