SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Thursday night, Joe Biden and Paul Ryan will square off in a Vice-Presidential debate.

The debate will be moderated by ABC's Martha Raddatz.

As it turns out, Raddatz has deep Utah roots.

Most know Raddatz as a globe trotting, award winning, network news reporter.

But before Vice-Presidential debates and international conflicts, there was East High.

Raddatz graduated from East in 1971.

She was active in debate, drama and even in the choir.

After high school, she ended up at KTVX (Channel 4), anchoring the weekend news with Ken Verdoia back in the 1970's.

Raddatz also covered stories involving polygamist clans and the tragic mass suicide of the Longo family.

So, when you see Raddatz reporting from around the world and grilling
Vice-Presidential candidates, remember this: once upon a time, she was an out-going, popular East High student.

She was also a classmate of Scott Matheson Jr. and, ABC 4 is told, of Roseanne Barr.
