Whether we will admit it or not law enforcement are above the law, They murder people frequently and ALWAYS get cleared because it is their own GANG that decides their guilt. If we ordinary citizens do something intentionally to harm someone else we are charged, prosecuted, fined, and incarcerated. I believe the same should be true for all law enfocement as well. They should be judged by non law enforcement, people that are not affiliated with them in any way. Maybe then there would be fair justice for all instead of Hitler like tactics.

Steed is not the exception, she is the rule! This is exactly how all cops are trained to do the job. Results and arrests are all that matter. Protect and serve went the way of the Edsel. Generate income to justify your existence, that is the creed of the UHP and every other agency. A good friend resigned from the Salt Lake County Sheriffs Dept. because he couldn't deal with the ethics. When he questioned superiors they told him to keep quiet at risk of his career or bodily harm! Reesults are all that matters, say what you have to to get the job done.

I hope they just terminate her employment permanently. She abused her power just because she wanted to look good. She's not serving and protecting the community, she's serving and protecting her ego. One bad egg here.

Trooper Steed will now get her own taste of the lies and deceit dished out by the senior command structure of UHP and DPS. Ms. Steed will reap what she sowed. She is about to get a taste of what it is like to be on the receiving end of the garbage that she dished out to citizens for so many years. She will likely incur huge expenses to defend herself and may ultimately file for bankruptcy to protect herself from the onslaught of civil actions coming her way. Poetic Justice. Lance Davenport was so willing to protect Steed during the time that she was breaking the law to enforce the law. But now that the evidence against her is so damning he is more than willing to cut her off to protect his own personal "kingdom." Davenport is a little slow in his thought process if he thinks that firing Steed is going to insulate him from the negative press yet to come. Davenport knows that numerous lawsuits against Steed are piling up and he doesn't want to incur the cost of defending her and making the "cash" settlements that are likely. Davenport should have taken action against Steed and other troopers charged with criminal behavior when it first came to his attention. Instead, the commissioner of Public Safety buried his head in the sand hoping the situation would pass. Davenport has left his "posterior" exposed. Most glaring is his failure to set the proper example for his troops, encourage ethical treatment of the public by all troopers, and to discipline rogue cops. It is time for an independent and open assessment and review of the highly dysfunctional Utah Highway Patrol command structure. It is time for a change at DPS.
