Tolerence. It goes both ways. It may take a generation before the LDS church is able to accept gay marriage, but tolerence is not a word to be despised. Love your neighbor. Be they black or white. Mormon or Jewish. In the end, it matters nothing whether we agree or disagree, what matters is the faith in our principles, that is; the content of our character. Despite whatever it is that is the basis of our prejudices against one another, the walls of Jericho must fall against the tide of overwhelming empathy to the need to be one with our fellow human beings.

While I'm sure that Civil marriage support is a long way off re the Mormon religious leadership, this shows great progress. In particular they seem to be sensitive to the struggles of gay kids, about per my psychologist cousin,we lose about 3000 gay kids to suicide in a repeating 9-11 every year Also the Mormon church facilitated laws that provide basic protections eg re jobs and housing, in 23 counties in Utah and SLCity. Also compare this to the Catholic Bishop in peoria who essentially called our President a nazi. Totally ignoring what the German pope did in 2009 http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/19/11288862-peoria-bishop-compares-obamas-actions-to-stalin-hitler?threadId= http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/erbe/2009/02/05/pope-should-excommunicate-holocaust-denying-bishop-williamson?msg=1 - comments

I'm sure the members of this congregation mean no ill-will, but as for me being an active LDS member who is also gay, I do not see this as supporting me personally. Yet, it does remind me much of the protestors that hang around General Conference holding their religious material in the air. I am afraid that to the LGBT community, it may come off more as the Anti-Mormon Protestors than a supportive march. Especially since they have to fight the Utah-Mormon stereotype of "Holier than thou."
