SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Wednesday, they began lining up at Salt Lake’s newest wine store before it even opened at 11 am.

And the store was busy all day long.

Traditionally, the day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest for Utah’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Last year, on the day before Thanksgiving, the DABC did more than two and a half million dollars in retail sales.

It was even busier than New Year's Eve.

In fact, in 2011, in the 3 days before Thanksgiving, the state and the DABC took in nearly 5 million dollars in liquor sales.

But the busiest day last year for the DABC was December 23rd when it took in nearly three million dollars in sales.
