I have known councilman newton is a great man that I have known for a long time. I was a scout and he helped me get my eagle scout award. this will be a great place for scouts and citizens to learn gun safety and have a safe place to shoot. All the evidence was presented and they made a decision based on that. I was there for all the meeting because I am a gun advocate and enthusiast and one of the council members was obviously against it and didn't listen to the guys putting the gun range in and I think he was coaching the residents on what to say as well as sticking his nose into the proposed herriman gun range. Sounds like he overstepped his bounds. I think it is not fair to try to ruin someones reputation like that but it sounds like the residents don't care. I have heard that they have opposed multiple businesses along that area and tried to ruin one that was already there.

Councilman Newton made it very obvious from the beginning that he wanted the range in, regardless of what anyone else thought or said. He failed the city and it's residents.
