Cold case murder suspect booked into Salt Lake County Jail

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A 20-year old Utah cold case murder is now closer to being solved.

A 55-year old man accused of killing a Utah County woman two decades ago has now been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.

Jose Ortiz-Garcia was extradited from South Carolina where he was serving time for another crime.

The Utah State Crime Lab used a DNA match to link Jose Ortiz-Garcia to the 1989 murder of Lela Rockwell.

Rockwell's naked body was found in a planter box in downtown Salt Lake.
