PLEASANT VIEW, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Weber High School student body is reacting Saturday to the confirmation one of their own was found dead in Morgan County. Alexis Rasmussen disappeared back in September and was discovered earlier this week.
ABC4 spoke to several WHS students Saturday, each devastated and surprised by the news.
Sarah Spencer said, “It makes me feel so sick inside that this could happen.”
Hunter Machovsky said, “It came as a shock and is devastating.”
While they are surprised and scared with what happened, right now they are remembering their classmate.
Spencer said, “A little bit eye opening, just aware that those kinds of things can happen to anyone of us.”
They got the confirmation it was Alexis’ body found in the canyon on a Saturday. Being that they are not in school they have to communicate through text messages and Facebook. But they are communicating, keeping each other informed on what they plan to do to remember their classmate. There are talks they may all come in their Sunday best to school on Monday, to pay tribute to their friend.
North Ogden is a small community and these kids have known each other for what feels like forever. So, whether they knew Alexis personally or not; the news of her death is very hard.
Sarah Beth Powell has lived in North Ogden her entire life and told ABC4 News, “Even in our tightly knit communities, such a tragedy could happen is scary.”
