SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - We are now just months away from the first major completion of Salt Lake's massive City Creek Center project.
The estimated billion dollar project remains on schedule and is now more than halfway done.
In early 2010, the Richards Court condos will be the first to open.
These are two ten story buildings with a total of 90 units.
Then in 2011, the 99 West South Temple condos will be finished.
This building will be big, 30 stories, and will hold 185 units.
Also to be completed then is the Regent residential tower.
That will be 20 stories and 150 units.
As for the retail, it will be the last to open in the spring of 2012.
But already, Utahns can get an idea of what it’s going to look like.
This includes where the three story Macy's will be and two story Nordstrom.
Plus, there will be new restaurants.
Previously, ABC 4 reported that a higher end Cheesecake Factory was one being mentioned.
But what's easy to overlook here is just how big this project will be and how much effort is going into building it.
There are 1,700 construction workers on the job and nine tower cranes.
Now, as for any announcement about which stores will be in the City Creek Center - perhaps, like a Cheesecake Factory or a Crate and Barrel - don't expect any word on that for another couple of years.
