TRENTON, Utah. (ABC 4 News)- A Cache County school bus with children aboard slid off the road and rolled onto its side, Wednesday afternoon around 4 pm.

Harsh weather and icy roads were a factor leading to the accident. The bus was traveling on 400 E in Trenton, which was drifted over with snow. According to the bus driver, the road was difficult to see. The driver drove too close to the side of the road and slid into a canal, toppling the bus over onto its side.

One child was in a wheelchair, and was not able to escape after the accident. Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency responders were able to pick up the child in his wheelchair and carry him off the bus.

There were 3 children and 2 aides on board, as well as the driver. All were evaluated on the scene by medical personnel and all were calm and doing well.

The accident is still under investigation by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
