MILLARD COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A bus loaded with youth choir members from Payson High School crashes with a semi-truck south of Fillmore. Utah Highway Patrol says there are reports of injuries, but none seem to be life threatening.
The crash happened on the northbound lanes of I-15 just after 4:30 A.M. near Baker Canyon, that's about 20 miles south of Fillmore. UHP investigators say the semi-truck was traveling northbound when it hit a patch of ice. The driver lost control of the truck, crashing and flipping on its side. The trailer's load of wooden cabinets spilled all over the highway. The semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries.
A charter school bus with 52 people on board was unable to avoid colliding with the debris. Some of the windows on the bus shattered from the force of the collision. A few students suffered minor injuries and were transported to a hospital in Payson.
Another school bus arrived shortly after the crash to provide shelter and transportation to the uninjured students. They were taken to the armory in Payson where family members were able to meet up with them.
