WASHINGTON STATE (ABC 4 News) - The last names and hometowns were removed from the "Attractive Mormon Youth" Facebook fan page as a result of this ABC 4 story.

POSTED JANUARY 21, 2013 AT ABOUT 9:30 P.M.
WASHINGTON STATE (ABC 4 News) - A new Facebook fan page called "Attractive Mormon Youth" is generating praise from teens and concern from at least one mother.

It features a new young member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints every day complete with a full name and hometown location.

ABC 4 found pictures for Gopeh Etenfa from Nigeria, Kenzie Reece from Hawaii and Dane Markham from Alaska.

The page's creator is 17-year-old boy from Washington State.  His name is Tommy N. (He doesn't want to release his full name).

"It's based on what I think attractiveness is," said Tommy about the Facebook fan page.

Tommy says true attractiveness is from within.  He says it's cultivated by living Jesus Christ's teachings as he says he believes were restored by Jesus Christ through leaders in the Latter-day Saint Church.

Tommy personally picks each picture and posts it to the Facebook page.  Mitch Morris' post reads, "He is always on the look out for someone who might need a friend."

Tommy says his aim is to highlight the good in this world to help it grow.  He says most of the reaction is positive.  One girl wrote, 'I'm so glad I can come here and see all these guys that have great standards that I can meet eventually.'"  Tommy says he especially reaching out the Latter-day Saint teens who live in areas with little or no there Latter-day Saints.  He's trying to build an online community of support and love.

However, a Provo parent is sharing concern for those featured on the Facebook fan page. "I don't think that it's safe," said Cindy Lindsay.

She fears a predator could find and track down one of the "Attractive Mormon Youth" featured on the page.

"He (Tommy) needs to realize there are repercussions to putting this person's information on a public form for anyone to see," Lindsay said.

Her feedback posted to the site is quickly removed and Facebook's investigations reveals no wrongdoing.  The pictures will continue to be posted to the delight of some and the frustration of Lindsay.

Tommy says he will never post an address or phone number.

All of you people who are making a fuss about this not being a real story, realize that this is a matter of safety for our kids. With all the child abductions happening lately, you should be more concerned and be appreciative when the media is raising awareness about the issue. As a result of this story, the AMY Page removed last names and locations from their posts. I'd say that's a pretty good outcome. More people need to speak up about this kind of thing so there can be more prevention.

The blond one is kind of cute. I'll bet my 31 year old wisdom can sweep her right off her feet. No worries, she'll be 18 in a couple of years.

I think this is an important issue, not because it is highlighting teens online, but it is posting first and last names as well as locations. Educating teens about internet privacy is important. It is also interesting that after the news story, the creator of the page took identifying information out. Just think about all of the nasty creepers and pedophiles that are likely frequenting that page. It makes me ill. These kids don't understand the danger.

Interesting to read about future events before they occur, since "POSTED JANUARY 23, 2013 AT 9:21 A.M." is tomorrow. But then we can get back to the future, I suppose. :)

I'm sorry....but did YOU get any of those kids permission to put their names up on the TV? Didn't think so. Stick to real news, not the crap no one cares about except for a mother who looks like she's old enough to have a 2 year old. It looks to me that it's building kids confidence....trust me there is a lot worse on Facebook. P.S. At least it's not false advertising, that kid in the yellow sweater WAS attractive.
