Arrest made in West Wendover teen's murder

WEST WENDOVER, Nev. (ABC 4 News) - School officials in West Wendover confirmed to ABC 4 News that an arrest has been made in connection with the death of Micaela Costanzo.

West Wendover High School Vice-principal Craig Kyllonen said that a suspect in the death of Micaela Costanzo was taken into custody at 2 a.m. Monday.

Kyllonen said the suspect is a male student who is a senior at West Wendover High School.

Elko County officials later confirmed that 18-year-old Kody Cree Patten was arrested after a cooperative investigation between the West Wendover Police Department, the Elko County Sheriff’s Office and The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Patten was named a suspect in the murder of 16-year-old Micaela Costanzo.

Kody Patten is from West Wendover has been arrested and booked into the Elko County Jail on murder charges without bail.

Costanzo's body was found Saturday in a shallow grave after she was reported missing on Friday.

Costanzo had last been seen leaving the school Thursday evening.

Dear "sad for WWHS", Please do not speak for WWHS. Our students are NOT unruly, undisciplined or uncontrollable. There are some students who have difficulty following rules, like any school in America, but they are disciplined in an appropriate and consistent manner. Please do not judge our school because of the actions of one individual. We have amazing students, teachers and administrators in this small community. Sincerely, Educated Person

Not shocking in the stightest that this happened. Bullying is a huge problem in the West Wendover schools. West Wendover is known through out the state and parts of Utah for being an unruly and undisciplined school. The students tell the Refs to "F-off" they are mouthy, mean and uncontrollable. The teacher turn-over rate for West Wendover schools is extremely high because there is no consistancy with discipline.

My heart goes out to the family. I was in Wendover on Friday in the Mcdonalds and saw the mother, we made eye contact and the look in her eyes was desperate. A mother myself, this horrific act is a mothers worst nightmare! I wish I had gone up to her and comforted her! rivertoncitygirl

What a piece of white trash garbage! I am so thankful there is closure for this sweet girl and her family. She will be remembered as the lovely angel she was...

What a sad story for such a young girl, hopefully they will find out exactly what has happened to her.
