TOUCHDOWN TONY to be charged!. Yet, amazingly, the Utah County DA somehow has no case against Tony. I have to wonder if the haters can now let their kids play ball and get coached without filing frivolous litigation. It is clear Tony McGeary handled every aspect regarding finances for the football program with the utmost integrity and character. Tony still teaches at the school and I’m sure if he had actually stolen money he would have been fired. The case is simple. Parents whine and the school thinks it would be easier to let Tony go rather than deal with whining parents with law degreees who are willing to file frivolous litigation. Dennis, do how well to you know Jerry Sandusky? Why would you bring him into the issue with Tony? Dennis, did you go to Penn State as a young man?

Dennis, Jerry Sandusky was a horrible comparison. Additionally your sarcastic comment regarding the church is quite offensive. Having known Tony for years I can attest to his integrity, honesty, and amazing activity in the church. This "scandal" really comes down to one thing: the district is trying to avoid a lawsuit by disgruntled parents who's boys didn't play. Truly, that is what is going on. I see the large problem within the districts who supposedly claim to have adequately informed coaches of the legality of this issue, yet coaches ALL OVER UTAH are afraid for the jobs right now because the lack of clarity of the issue. It is sad that the districts are only now implementing a summer salary for their coaches, who work hundreds and hundreds of hours for their boys. Why now? Because they had previously allowed the methods that are now an issue.

After reading this I have come to the conclusion that someone's little crybaby did not get to pla and mommie and daddy set out to ruin Tony. $5000 I wonder how much of that was spent on his players over the course of the year. Did he pay camp fees for some who could not afford? Maybe buy a meal or two for the hungry. $5000 scandal in Utah.maybe it is time to return home and complete what Turp started so many years ago

I have to wonder if they can now get off their hands long enough to prosecute what appears to be an open and shut case, since it's essentially been handed to them on a silver platter by ABC4. Hopefully, the next thing we'll see is an UNsmiling mugshot of "Touchdown Tony" being charged with that second-degree felony while holding a sign quoting his own words: "I believe I have handled every aspect regarding finances for our program with the utmost integrity and character." But in principle and in fact, how are the actions of the Alpine School District in attempting to cover for Tony McGreary's alleged crime any different than the actions of Penn State in attempting to cover for the now-convicted felon Jerry Sandusky, who was also a "great football coach," don't we all know? I seriously have to wonder about the parents and students of Lone Peak who would go to such lengths in an attempt "to get [our] coach back," especially in a county where one of its "guiding principles" is based on their belief "...in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law." But I suppose that only applies at church where they gather once a week to compare clothing without so much as a thought for the plight of the poor and needy -- you know, those who could never afford to be ripped off by a popular football coach of such stellar "integrity and character." But in checking further, it appears that: "Intent and motive should not be confused. Motive is what prompts a person to act, or fail to act. Intent refers only to the state of mind with which the act is done or omitted." (Black's, abridged 6th ed., at 560.) Thanks again, Brian, for this informative report.
