WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) – ABC 4’s Noah Bond walked into Amor Animal Hospital in West Jordan with the camera rolling to get candid answers about claims a dog was neglected there.

A West Valley woman says her dog named Chocolate was neglected at Amor Animal Hospital during her week long vacation, but the Hospital’s manager says this claim is not true.

A candid tour of the facility revealed an extremely clean kennel area where dogs and cats were housed. The animals also had plenty of food and water.

Bond asked a front desk secretary if the dog named Chocolate was cared for properly. “Everybody who worked with Chocolate, they wrote statements down saying that he was taken care of just fine,” she said.

Bond asked about the sores found on Chocolate’s body. “The sores were already there when he got here,” the secretary said.

“Was he limping when he came in?” asked ABC 4’s Noah Bond. “He was limping for most of the time he was here,” the secretary responded.

Perkins filed a complaint with the West Jordan Police Department, but it won’t release documents because the investigation is active.

The Better Business Bureau gives Amor Animal Hospital an A plus rating. It has no previous complaints with the BBB.

Stevenson says Chocolate was extremely anxious when he was dropped off at the Animal Hospital and his situation never improved. She says it’s more common for older dogs to struggle while their owners are away on vacation.

I got my cat fixed there, they over did it with the drugs and she was never quiet the same after that. She lost her peripheral vision on that surgery, I found out later. She was alright, on the whole (she lived for a long time after that) but her personality changed.

Not so Fast !!! by gerarda1946 on 09/18/2009 Because our pets were left in their day care for a week, we thought they were a good clinic. Suprize, 6 months later our lab was throwing up blood so she went to Amor within the hour. Into surgery in the next 8 hours. The doctor said it was a major surgery but that if she survived the surgery she would be allright. My husband was there with her, through the surgery, after the surgery.. she was doing well, walking - wagging- and kissing. My husband and I stayed until closing, thinking she would be taken care of. Everyone in the clinic left and there was no one on duty all night. Next am when we callled, our dog was dead. They had not left anyone there to care for the animals, they didn't have a night time staff. She had layed all night on a cement floor, with no one to care. That doctor didn't give her a chance. If that had been your child would you have felt good about those conditions. We paid the 2K for the opperation. They wanted the money yesterday, how much they cared !!! I would not recommend the clinic to anyone, as I don't see love and caring for the animals being part of their lives. I'm sorry for them....I am even more sorry for those who have also lost their animals by that clinic. Thank you. read less

June 28, 2007. Not so a plus We used to love this place. My collie just got groomed, and something happened to him while he was there, b/c when we took him home he couldn't walk. Mind you they didn't call us all day despite our dog being in pain. The vet wouldn't see him either. Another vet in West Jordan took him right in. After many attempts we had to put our dog down. Amor didn't care our dog was in pain they wouldn't ""have time for the vet to see him"" for two more days. Our dog had to be carried out of the vet, when earlier that day he went skipping in healthily. Amor animal hospital has nothing to do with love. They are terrible, if you care about your pets take them elsewhere. Cons: they hurt our dog while he was groomed.
