SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A powerful storm cell that moved through southern and central Utah Saturday caused significant flooding in the area of the burn scar from the Dump Fire.
The flooding damaged several homes in the northwestern portion of the Jacob's Ranch subdivision at approximately 2100 south 400 west in Saratoga Springs.
Saratoga Springs officials said the flooding caused runoff along city streets and overflow from area retention ponds. A significant amount of mud, landscaping, and other debris also carried across Redwood Road and caused it to become impassable.
Reports late Saturday indicated four residential structures had been significantly impacted by the effects of the storm and subsequent damage. Nearly 20 other homes were also impacted by water damage and flooding.
The American Red Cross also responded to the incident, and their relief shelter remains open at 2947 Swainson Avenue in Saratoga Springs. A family of five stayed at the shelter overnight Saturday.
Police say cleanup efforts are underway Sunday, and ask that the public refrain from visiting the impacted areas so that their efforts can be successful in as short a time as possible.
