SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 NEWS) - Three Midvale men are in the Salt Lake County jail on child pornography and sexual abuse charges. Authorities believe that at least two of the men were making sex videos with underage girls. This apparently happened during a Mardi Gras trip to New Orleans this past February. The attorney for one of those men says her client was just trying to have a good time there. Susanne Gustin says," I think what happened, it was boys having fun.”
Gustin represents Ian Walston. Walston, Bryan Christensen, and David Khwaja are all facing sex charges in Louisiana. Prosecutors believe the men made sex videos with themes similar to the “Girls Gone Wild” series.
Walston's attorney says the videos were posted on a website called, “Hot Girls Unleashed.” But, she says even though the three drove to New Orleans in an RV borrowed from Walston's mother, Walston didn't do anything wrong.
Gustin says, “My client wasn't present during any of the filming. He came in at the very end. He was at Mardi Gras having a good time. He came back to the RV and was there at the very end."
Gustin says prior to the videotaping; the three men had a method to try to find out how old the girls were. Gustin says, “And when the girls would come up to the RV they would videotape their face, and videotape their drivers license to verify their age."
However, Gustin says two of the girls who said they were involved claimed they were in college, when in fact they were actually 16 and 17 years old.
Gustin says she's representing Walston in a similar case in Utah where he's accused of sexual misconduct in connection with an incident that happened in his mother's RV in Draper. ABC 4 asked her “Would you say based on these two allegations that some would say it doesn't look good for your client."
Gustin says, “Well I would say that what he did was probably offensive and disturbing to most people, but he did not commit a crime." Gustin says Walston won't be charged in that case. She claims he was home with his children at the time of the alleged incident.
Gustin says Walston will waive extradition and fly to New Orleans next week. That's when Louisiana authorities are expected to take him into custody. She says she can’t speak for the other two men. Although she believes, they are in much more trouble than her client is.
