OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Most call her a child prodigy, but for 15-year-old Jessica Brooke she just really loves math and learning. That love of learning has gotten her far, the teenager is already a senior in college.

Jessica skipped most of Junior High and all of High School and got right to work in a community college.

Jessica told ABC4 News, "We spent every class learning! Nobody was disciplining kids and everyone wanted to be there. We wasted no time."

Three years ago, Jessica and her family were living in Arizona. Her seventh grade math classes just weren't challenging enough for her, so Jessica's Mom Rachel started looking for another option. A few tests and discussions later, Jessica was enrolled in Community College getting perfect grades.

Rachel aid, "She did really well, probably better than most college freshman."

Community College went so well, Jessica and her mom started looking for a University that would allow the then 14-year-old in class. That's when Weber State University offered Jessica a full ride scholarship to attend school there.

The family moved to Ogden, just one mile away from campus.

Now the 15-year-old is in a split world; every day in class with adults, but she is only a teenager.

Jessica said, "I've still made really good friends and hang out with everyone my own age, so I haven't missed on anything."

Jessica is a double major at Weber, studying Zoology and Math with a minor in Music.

She plans to graduate in the next two years and then the plan is to go onto Medical School.

Jessica is the youngest student ever enrolled at Weber State.

Also, I would like to add that she is the youngest student enrolled in a bachelor's degree program (which is awesome), but there are quite a few Early College students at Weber State (especially through NUAMES) that are 14 and 15 and enrolled in an associates program, which they enrolled in over a bachelors program in order to qualify for the New Century Scholarship, or lock in their associates so it transfers better after they graduate high school.

That is really awesome that she's doing that and doing so well. But the way this article is phrased makes it seem like that is unusual at Weber State when it isn't at all. She is simply in the Early College Program and on an Early College Scholarship. It is open to everyone in the community that qualifies, and there is a whole high school (NUAMES) set up to work with Weber State and this program (it's even on the Weber State Davis Campus). I think what she's doing is great, and I'm not trying to discredit that at all, but many people have done very similar at Weber State, and I want to make sure that the community knows that these opportunities are available to them as well. http://www.weber.edu/earlycollege http://www.nuames.net/
