Coping

Story Comments Share
The lip around the top of the pool between the pool interior and the surface decking of the pool is referred to as coping. This is the area commonly known as the top rail, where you'll sit and dangle your feet or use it to get out of the pool. Coping can consist of either concrete stones, brick pavers, stone or even preformed pieces. Strength is important as this area will get a great deal of wear. The coping should be between seven and twelve inches wide to provide the strength and footing needed for your pool. You should inquire if the coping has been treated with a slip resistant coating. Coping should be acid and freeze proof to hold up long term. Remember that looks count, choose a coping that will blend with the decking material. Dark colors will of course hold heat, making the coping uncomfortable to use. Your swimming pool professional, can offer advice on choosing the best coping for your pool.
