SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - Will Johnson scored off a header in the 49th minute as Real Salt Lake defeated D.C. United, 1-0.

The victory was Real's first MLS victory since July 27th. It moved them into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference Standings.

Real goalkeeper Nick Rimando recorded four saves and notched his second straight shutout. It was the 97th career clean sheet of Rimando's career.

In the 49th minute, Ned Grabavoy backed a pass to Paulo Jr. on the left side of the penalty area, and Paulo Jr. sent a cross into the 6-yard box that was deflected by DC United defender Brandon McDonald. Johnson got his head under the deflected ball and knocked it home.

The game started on time, but in the 4th minute, both teams cleared the field because of a lightning storm. The game was delayed 84 before both teams were allowed the return to the field.

RSL (14-10-4) next plays at Houston September 6th at 6:30 p.m. on CW-30.
