SALT LAKE CITY (July 1, 2009)The Pacific Coast League announced today that Salt Lake Bees outfielder Terry Evans, right-handed pitcher Jeremy Hill and infielder Brandon Wood have been named to the 2009 PCL All-Star Team. All three players will suit up for the 22nd annual Triple-A All-Star Game, slated for July 15th at PGE Park in Portland, Ore., when the PCL squad takes on the International League All-Stars. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. (PT) and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

“All three of these players are very deserving of this honor and have done a great job for us this season. We wouldn’t be where we are in the standings if it weren’t for these guys,” said Bees Manager Bobby Mitchell. “This is a credit to the Bees and the Angels organization to have this many players selected and it’s a good sign of things to come.”

Evans, a 27-year-old native of Dublin, Ga., has appeared in 75 games for the Bees in 2009, hitting .291 with 19 doubles, two triples, 17 homeruns, 54 RBI and a team-high 16 stolen bases. Evans was also named a PCL All-Star in 2007. A right shoulder strain limited him to only 46 games in 2008 after a career year in 2007, including his major league debut with the Angels on June 17, 2007. He has appeared in a total of eight games for the Halos. Evans joined the Angels organization from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Jeff Weaver on July 5, 2006.

Hill, a 31-year-old native of Dallas, Texas, has appeared in 30 games for the Bees in 2009, owning a 1-3 record with a 4.01 ERA and a team-high 16 saves. Originally drafted as a catcher by the Kansas City Royals in 1996, Hill converted to a pitcher in 2001. He made his major league debut as a pitcher with the Royals in 2002. Traded to the New York Mets in 2003, he played Independent League baseball in 2006 and played in Taiwan in 2007. Hill recorded 23 saves for Monclova of the Mexican League in 2008, before signing with the Angels in the 2008 offseason.
