SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Sports) - Brian Scott rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns as Hurricane shut out Desert Hills in the 3A state championship game, 21-0.
The title is Hurricane's first in school history. The Tigers reached the title game the previous three seasons, only to lose all three to Juan Diego on the final play of the game.
"There's no way to describe how happy everyone is," said Scott. "For four years, I've been dreaming of this, and now it's happened."
"I'm very proud of a bunch of kids who came to work tonight," said head coach Chris Homer. "They weren't going to be denied, and this feels like a lot of hard work has paid off right now."
The entire game was played in a snowstorm, which ended up covering the entire field at the end of the game.
The Tigers threw just 8 passes the entire game, and rode their stifling defense and Scott to victory. The Tigers rushed for 265 yards, and intercepted Thunder quarterback Porter Harris three times.
Scott scored on runs of 7, 3 and 1 yards as the Tigers were finally able to celebrate a state title.
