The people of the Utah AIDS Foundation work tirelessly all year round to help the people of Utah affected by HIV/AIDS. It's the stories of everyday people that keep them going. Three representatives go
On the Record to talk about their work, and how you can get involved to help.
The AIDS Foundation focuses on prevention, but also works directly with the clients to help them out in their individual situations.
Misty Thompson is a case manager at the Foundation. She works directly with people with the disease everyday. The Foundation was able to help one woman and her family pay for rent, medications, and provide Christmas because they couldn't afford it.
The Oscar Night Gala held every year the same night as the Academy Awards, is the biggest fundraiser of the year. This year, it will be held February 27th at The Complex in Salt Lake City. They dress up, watch the Oscars, and have a silent auction. Development Director Nathan Meassom says it's the best party of the year, and a chance to get a feel for the glamor of Hollywood right here in Utah.
This fundraiser is necessary to help keep the Utah AIDS Foundation going. And the number of people in Utah living with HIV/AIDS is staggering.
