WEBER COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Utah’s Department of Transportation pre-treated roads throughout the state to ensure safety for drivers Wednesday.
Heavy snowfall hit the northern part of the state creating wet and slushy roads. Drivers around the Weber County area said the conditions were not as bad as they predicted.
“I’m never really worried about roads in Utah,” Sammy Rideout said. “UDOT does a good job of keeping them clear.”
A spokesman for UDOT said 500 plow trucks were ready to remove snow build up on Utah streets. Crews remained on standby for the morning commute in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah County on Thursday.
“We have been watching this storm all week,” UDOT Spokesman Jake Brown said. “We’re ready to handle whatever this storm throws at us.”
Drivers can expect delays in areas all areas near the canyons where snow hit the hardest.
“People just need to remember to drive slowly so they can get where they need to be safely,” Rideout added.
