Todd Gross: Look for Even BETTER Weather Coverage..
On Friday evening, June 26th, around 7:45 pm a severe thunderstorm moved into Salt Lake City. 1/2 and hour before that, The 4WARN weather team was on the air, with special reports despite the lack of an official "warning" from any federal agency. This kind of additional weather coverage is our way of keeping you on top of the weather rather than under it.
Winds gusted to 50mph, and up to 1.5" of rain fell in the Cottonwood Canyons. Parts of the city fell without power, including our facilities at ABC4.
Rainfall during June has amounted to 400% of the normal so far, and we are approaching the top five rainiest Junes on record. While we should dry out a bit this week, more storms are possible by the 4th of July weekend.
