TODD GROSS: Solitude Opens?

Well I'm impressed that at least one ski area is taking advantage of the low sun-angle at this time of year and opening early, but I'm still a little bitter about all the areas closing so early in the season last year when there was gobs of snow on the ground.

Solitude not only opened on Friday, but even was open during the snowstorm at the end of October for a Halloween ski for free.

Kudos to the areas that open early, but in my mind, especially the ones that stay open late, despite the lack of crowds and the Forest Service agreement..
