SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - ABC 4 News is learning more about the West Wendover woman who was shot during a kidnapping attempt involving suspects Logan McFarland and Angela Atwood, but survived.
Rattana Keomanivong was carjacked by the couple, but was able to get away and provide police a description of the dangerous duo. However, what Atwood and McFarland didn’t know was Keomanivong is not as weak as she might appear. In fact, this past summer she won the Wendover Strongest Woman contest and she owns a gym called the Animal House.
McFarland and Atwood stopped her as she was leaving a business early Saturday morning. She was forced into her own car at gun point. As she drove – Atwood was in the car with her while McFarland followed behind in another car. According to the High Desert Advocate (
http://www.coyote-tv.com/ ) Keomanivong fought off her attacker by biting her ear and her neck and forcing her from the vehicle. Apparently this shouldn't come as a surprise. When ABC 4 News spoke with one of Keomanivong's friends, Mike Daniels, he told us "Rattana is a strong woman. She is strong minded and physically strong."
But the ordeal wasn’t over. Atwood then fired a round at Keomanivong as she drove off. The bullet grazed the back of her head, but she still managed to drive to the police station and give police a description of McFarland and Atwood before being rushed to a Salt Lake hospital for emergency surgery. Daniels says the shooting "makes him sick."
Sources tell ABC 4 News that Keomanivong is doing well and should be home by the end of the week.
