First lady Michelle Obama was the focus of the first night of the Democratic National Convention. The first lady entered the arena with one goal in mind, to get the base, and more specifically, women back on her husband's bandwagon.
A new poll by ABC news shows women’s support of the president has been sliding. In April, 57% of women approved of the president. Today, that number has slipped to just 46%.
So, along with an emotional tone, Michelle touched on several issues important to women like equal pay and women’s rights. Michelle didn't focus on the negative aspects of her husband's presidency, hoping that even if voters don't support his record, they’ll believe in his motivation. Of course, his motivations are a much easier focus than the economy, especially on the heels of news that the national debt has now hit 16-trillion.
