CACHE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A man led police on a high-speed chase through Sardine Canyon into Wellsville Thursday afternoon before crashing into a field near South Valley RV.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, A UHP trooper initiated a traffic stop near Sherwood Hills on a driver of a small purple truck. The driver was reportedly speeding and following another vehicle too close.

The trooper asked the man for identification and was presented with an invalid driver’s license. When the trooper went back to his car to run the information, the driver of the truck reportedly threw a small plastic bag out the window and took off.

Authorities believe the bag contained cocaine.

The driver lost control of the truck and swerved into the lanes of oncoming traffic near Wellsville. He drove the truck into an open field then opened the door and tried to get away on foot.

The man ran toward a cable fence, but was pinned by the trooper’s unit before he could jump over.

According to UHP, the trooper tried to stop his car, but the grass was reportedly wet and the car slid into the fence, pinning the man.

The driver was not seriously injured, but authorities said he was transported to the hospital to get a medical release.

The man is believed to be in his mid-30’s and has an immigration hold. He has been previously deported.

The man said he was trying to get away from the trooper because he had an outstanding warrant for speeding.

Yes, ANOTHER ILLEGAL. And they still claim they have the same rights we do, and that we are racist and violating their rights, (what rights? send them back to their country where they belong). First of all they broke the law the first time they came onto US soil, then he was deported and came back, this time maybe with what is believed to be drugs in that bag he threw out. Yeah let's give them our WIC program, food stamps, welfare, medicaid and so on so they can stay home, not work and take drugs while we all (US Citizens) pay for them. Of course this IS THEIR DREAM ACT they all are talking about. If I were to get everything free it would be a dream too. Come on people WAKE UP!!!
