FARMINGTON, UT (ABC 4 News) – A motorist, who ran out gas and was parked on the side of I-15 in Farmington Tuesday night, was hit and killed by a car.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Arik Beesley told ABC 4 News that the man’s family had just brought him some gas and was parked a few feet behind him when another car swerved out of the right traffic lane and hit the man and his car. He died at the scene. Trooper Beesley says the victim’s family witnessed the fatal accident.
Trooper Beesley says the car that hit the unnamed man then spun and was hit by another car. The two people in the car that hit the man were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Beesley says, motorists who have car trouble need to move as far off the road as possible. And he says motorists who see a car on the side of the road, just like when they see a trooper or police car on the shoulder, need to move one lane over as well.
