PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A youth coach from Utah County will face a misdemeanor assault charge over an incident that happened during a little league football game in October.
Nathan Harris was seen on video
knocking a 13-year-old player to the ground during the game as the boy ran out of bounds.
The Mapleton teen suffered a mild concussion and was sidelined for the rest of the football season.
Harris claimed he was
defending himself and his own son from being hit by runner.
Harris was arrested a few days later and booked on suspicion of a felony child abuse charge, but the Utah County attorney's office later
declined a felony against him.
The prosecutor's office said a felony was not warranted because the boy's injury wasn't serious enough.
Payson officials then cited Harris on the misdemeanor assault charge. He is expected to make an an initial appearance in court on December 13.
