SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – A Sandy woman is battling paralysis following an ATV accident.

"It's the worst thing I've ever seen," says her boyfriend Sean Foley.

The couple was riding their ATV's along a trail at Brian Head in Southern Utah.

Murphy went over a steep slope and became airborne.

"When she was coming back out from underneath it, it kind of threw …her to the side,” says Foley. “But when it threw her to the side it threw her against the tree. That stopped her and that's when she knew she broke her back.”

For ninety minutes she was stuck on the side of the slope by the tree.

Foley called 911 but it took paramedics that long to reach her.

She was immediately flown to a Las Vegas hospital where she learned she had a broken spine.

"I've never felt so loved in my entire life," Murphy spoke from her hospital bed.

Since being admitted, she's received scores of get well cards, flowers and posters from her friends in Utah.
She says it helped lift her spirits.

“This is a horrible thing,” she says. “But it's been actually a real positive experience."

Foley says the medic helicopter isn’t covered by her insurance and will cost thousands of dollars.

He says they have set up a trust fund to help Murphy pay for those costs as well as other costs related to her recovery.

Anyone can donate by visiting a Wells Fargo Bank and the fund has been setup under the name “Love is Blonde”.
