SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – The search is on for a man police claim exposed himself at Wal-Mart to a 7-year-old girl.
If you shop at Wal-Mart in Sandy, you’ve probably seen the man before. Police have been looking for him for the last two and half weeks. But now they've hit a dead end, and they're hoping someone reading this article, can help them find him.
Take a good look at the photo of the man in a wheelchair. Police consider him - a sexual predator.
"We're hoping this is someone people will recognize," said Sgt. Jon Arnold, Sandy Police Dept. Spokesperson.
Police said back on August 23rd, the man was inside the Wal-Mart on 91st South and Quarry Bend Road in Sandy. Cops said that same day he exposed himself to a 7-year-old girl.
"She initially didn't say anything to (her) mom, she looked back and he was still exposing himself," said Arnold.
When the girl's family went to talk to a manager, the man rolled away. Surveillance cameras captured his photo before he left.
Sandy shoppers tell ABC 4 it's disturbing.
"I think it's absolutely disgusting," said Hayden Morgan, Wal-Mart shopper.
"Expose (yourself to a) young girl, that's pretty bad," said Jennifer Haley, Wal-Mart shopper.
"Absolutely unacceptable and should have never have happened," said Ashley MacKintosh, Wal-Mart shopper.
Police want to stop him before he does it again.
"That's why we're asking the media's help in trying to locate him because if this is an ongoing issue for this individual we need to make sure this is taken care of and it doesn't happen to another individual," said Arnold.
It may help readers to know the suspect is a white man, who's overweight, has a full beard, was last seen wearing blue jean shorts, and uses a wheelchair. If he sounds familiar to you - call police.
