SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Utah is near the top when it comes to happiness in our country. A new ranking from Gallup-Healthways well being index ranked each state. They questioned Americans to evaluate their satisfaction of their life and Utahns came in number four.
Coming in number four isn't too bad, but we wondered: What makes Utah so great?
Senator Gene Davis told ABC4, "I would say it's just the quality of life!"
New to Utah Megan Keller told ABC4, "Everyone here is very nice!"
And 11-year-old Alec Paden just loves "Living here!"
Young, old and new to Utah: from what we could find at the State Capitol Tuesday, Utah is happy because we enjoy every day in the Beehive state.
Senator Davis said, "The quality of life celebrates life itself. You get up in the morning and have to be happy and when the blue skies are there it makes you even happier!"
According to this new Gallup Poll, Utah is at top when it comes to economic confidence and our outlook to the future. We are pretty optimistic. Utah also has ideal emotional health and support from families.
Maurine Smith likes that idea, "I'm happy because of the heritage of our state and because the family is so important."

10-year-old Jackson Rys loves Utah because, "I can ski, I have all the kinds of weather and people all the world travel here and I don't have to travel here to ski!"
His buddy Alec agreed, "I love Utah because I get to ski!"
West Virginia comes in at the bottom of the list.
