SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah Budget Director Ron Bigelow has announced he'll retire in January to devote more time to family, community and church activities.

Gov. Gary Herbert issued an announcement Friday lauding Bigelow for what he called "an incomparable commitment to fiscal prudence."

Bigelow had served as a long-time legislator, and worked as the state budget director for the past two years.

Herbert said a reception honoring Bigelow would take place sometime in January.
