SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Gov. Gary Herbert's advisers say Utah should bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The Utah Olympic Exploratory Committee is urging Herbert and Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker to position Utah for its second Olympics.

One leading advisor, Fraser Bullock, says Utah can capitalize on the infrastructure left in place from the 2002 Olympics. Fraser was the No. 2 executive under Mitt Romney for those games.

Herbert and Becker are expected to make a decision by mid-November.

Utah would need the endorsement of the U.S. Olympic Committee and a decision by the International Olympic Committee.

Utah faces possible competition from Denver, Reno-Tahoe and Billings, Mont.
