PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A Provo woman who was caught on suspicion of shoplifting told police she was a character from the the popular 1980s sitcom 'The Cosby Show.'
Provo police Sgt. Matthew Siufanua told ABC 4 News that Leah Efay Davis was stopped by University Mall security officers inside a J.C. Penney store with more than $600 worth of stolen merchandise.
The stolen goods included 4 purses and 4 pairs of pajamas, according to police.
Siufanua said when police officers interviewed Davis, she told them her name was Rudy Huxtable, Cliff Huxtable's (Bill Cosby) youngest daughter played by Keisha Knight Pulliam during the 'Cosby' run from 1984-1992. Siufanua said Davis claimed she starred on the show with Cosby, and that she also claimed that she owned the mall.
Siufanua said that Davis was already familiar to law enforcement officers, having been arrested previously on similar charges. Davis had been forbidden from entering the mall due her previous history, which is why she faces a trespassing charge, along with a shoplifting accusation.
