SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – Members of the Utah Air National Guard returned home Sunday from a deployment to the Middle East.

Danielle Herrscher, whose husband deployed, has waited for the reunion for the last six months. “He's been missed very much, but we've been able to Skype regularly,” she said.

But when babies grow up so fast Skype can only capture so much. Just ask Angie Muir. “It's like watching a TV screen versus real life,” she said. “My baby was 11 days old when he left and so it's been hard, he's missed a lot of her little life and it's been hard on both of us.”

14 airmen from the 130th Engineering Installation Squadron have been responsible for installing communications equipment for the u-s military war efforts half a world away.

Their families showed up to the Salt Lake International Airport holding signs to welcome them home.

“That's the hardest part, of all the things going, on missing the family is the worst,” said Technical Sgt. Curtis Muir.

The unit left for the Persian Gulf Region on April 1st. For some members, this was their first deployment.
