Unconscious man drives into Burger King

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A man who appeared to be unconscious ran a red light and slammed into the eating area of a Burger King Saturday morning.

At approximately 10 a.m., a man was stopped at the intersection of 2100 South Redwood Road. According to witnesses, the man, who is in his 40s, bumped an SUV from behind and hard accelerated through the intersection, ramming into the building.

Salt Lake Fire employees were in an engine and witnessed the accident, said Lt. Brian Purvis of the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Purvis said when crews arrived they found the man unconscious in his vehicle and believe he blacked out causing the chain of events.
