Uintah County man attacks woman with machete

FORT DUCHESNE, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A Uintah County man attacked a woman in his residence over the weekend.

Uintah County Sheriff's Deputies along with Bureau of Indian Affairs Officers were dispatched to the Uintah Basin Medical Center, on Sunday, for the report of a stabbing victim.

Officers interviewed a female victim who stated that Stuart Wade Mojado had attacked her with a machete causing deep lacerations to her left arm.

The victim stated that she was leaving Mojado's residence when she realized she forgot her cell phone. She went back inside the residence to find the phone when she encountered Mojado holding a machete. Mojado told her to leave and when she told him she needed her phone he attacked her striking her left arm two times.

The victim ran from the residence and was driven to the Uintah Basin Medical Center where she was quickly taken into surgery to repair the damage to her left arm.

Officers went to Majado’s home, but he refused to come out. Officers secured an arrest warrant and forced entry into the home. Majado was taken into custody without incident.

Officers located illegal narcotics along with drug paraphernalia and a firearm inside the home.

Mojado was booked into the Uintah County Jail on the charge of aggravated assault along with drug and weapons charges.

The victim was out of surgery within a couple of hours and is expected to recover from her injuries.
