SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The bad roads made it a very dangerous weekend for the Utah Highway Patrol responding to accidents.
Four trooper-involved accidents took place in the last two days. Already in the first six weeks of 2013 the number of troopers hit on highways has exceed all of 2012. UHP said there were 12 accidents last year and 12 so far this year.
By Sunday afternoon UHP had had enough and two of the troopers involved in crashes made a plea to the public.
“You got to slow down and move over,” said Trooper Jason Whitehead, UHP. “On these snow days when the roads are bad like this, you've just got to expect that we are going to be on the side of the road, over the next hill or around the next curve, we are going to be on the side of the road attending to someone else.”
The UHP said a high amount of snow and ice storms in Utah this year may be behind the uptick in crashes.
