SOUTH SALT LAKE (ABC 4 News) - Two LDS churches and one home all burned in fires in South Salt Lake early Saturday morning.
All three fires were in the same area, the first one errupted around 3:30 a.m. at 3219 S. 300 E. Battallion Chief Terry Addison with the South Salt Lake Fire Department told ABC 4, investigators began suspecting arson after a brick was found thrown through a window in the chapel where the fire started.
It took nearly 30 firefighters to put out the two-alarm fire that caused at least $300,000 in smoke and water damage.
While investigators continued to investigate that fire, two other fires broke out just before 7:00 a.m.; one at another LDS chruch, the other at a nearby home.
Damage to the second church at 2702 S. Main Street was less severe, but fire crews are still calling it suspicious.
There is no word of how severe the damage was at the home that burned at 500 E. 2975 S. however, invesigators believe it could be connected to the two church fires.
South Salt Lake Fire Department is holding a press conference at noon. Stay tuned to ABC 4 News for more on this story.
