SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The state launched a new website which allows gun owners to renew their concealed carry permit in less than 10 minutes.

The state says this will improve processing time by 50 percent. Agencies will now have the ability to view and approve applications online instead of waiting for a paper renewal form to be mailed in.

"The most convenient way to renew your Concealed Firearm Permit is online," said Commissioner Lance Davenport.  "Instead of waiting several weeks, we have now streamlined the process so you can receive your permit sooner while applying online."

Renewal is simple, what you'll need:
  • Information from your current permit
  • Digital photo, passport quality
  • Next-enter information, verify, e-sign, print and pay

Citizens can visit the renewal website, enter their permit number, as well as the last four digits of their social security number to begin the secure online renewal process. Once logged in, visitors can fill out the application, upload their photo, and finish the application process, including the ability to pay online. Once submitted, permits are received in the mail within two to four weeks.
